Time Warner is building a new data center in Charlotte
July 28, 2011
Facing a fast-changing media landscape, Time Warner Cable is building a new center in Charlotte that aims to provide better, faster service for an array of electronic gadgets.
The telecommunications giant said Monday that the expansion of its corporate campus off Arrowood Road will bring 225 new jobs to the city. The project also includes an additional office building.
The new jobs will have an average salary of $61,044 — well above the county average of $51,584. The 178,000-square-foot data center, expected to be completed by the end of next year, will be one of two Time Warner national data centers in the U.S.
DIXIE RIVER ROAD RIBBON-CUTTING
July 12, 2011
The new Dixie River Road thoroughfare is open! The Dixie River Road realignment project includes 1.6 miles of roadway improvements including sidewalk, curb and gutter, medians, bicycle lanes, wheelchair ramps, traffic signals and landscaping. The project completes the vision of the Dixie-Berryhill strategic plan (adopted by City Council in April 2003) in realigning the southern end of Dixie River Road.
The project was separated into two phases. The first phase, the Shopton Road West leg, was built by NCDOT and completed in 2009. The second phase, the Dixie River Road realignment, included the widening of Steele Creek Road and the realigning of Dixie River Road. The landscaping for the Shopton Road West leg was completed in 2010. Landscaping for the remaining portions of the project will be completed this fall. Total project cost is $12.5 million.
