In October, the city will complete the widening of Highway 160 to four lanes, which includes a signalized intersection at the new Dixie River Road thoroughfare and Highway 160. The new Dixie River Road thoroughfare will be completed by the end of the year, providing another entrance to the Berewick community. No other master-planned community offers such convenient access. Berewick Town Center will offer its retail tenants an attractive, convenient location with a ready-made market created by the surrounding offices and 2,500 residences. With 250,000 square feet of retail, anchored by a future Harris Teeter and designed to incorporate the Scottish hamlet theme, the retail portion of the Town Center will provide neighborhood services and a variety of restaurant options in a pedestrian friendly environment. Olympic High School Rated One of America’s Best

Olympic Community of Schools, which serve Berewick high school students, have been rated by Newsweek as some of the best high schools in the country. Check out the complete list. Each school on the list also has an individual profile page where faculty and students can comment and contribute.

According to Newsweek.com, the rankings are based on “how hard school staffs work to challenge students with advanced-placement college- level courses and tests.” About 1,600 schools made the list, which is only 6 percent of all the public schools in the United States.

The Official Start to Summer

Now that Memorial Day has passed, we can finally declare the official start of summer! The kids will be out of school soon, but boredom won’t strike at Berewick. Residents have plenty of activities, starting with everyone’s favorite summer hot spot – the Junior Olympic swimming pool at the Manor House. Also, this summer, we are partnering with the Steele Creek YMCA for a summer camp specifically for kids at Berewick. Between the family game nights, pajama parties and free live music by the pond, there are fun things going on for the entire family this summer. Contact us to learn more.

Do you need help navigating the many living options available at Berewick? You’re in luck! Berewick has recently opened a brand-new Welcome Center in the Manor House. There, you’ll find a friendly face in Cindy Hafer, who is available daily to answer your questions about this community. Cindy spent a number of years at Baxter Village in Fort Mill, so she’s intimately familiar with the area and can guide you through Berewick. The Welcome Center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Stop by and say “hello,” or contact us if you have any questions.

Village of Aberdeen: New Model Open

Bellamy Homes has unveiled a new model home in the Village of Aberdeen. Completely furnished, the home showcases the builder’s popular “Savannah” floor plan with four bedrooms, three-and-one-half baths and 2,492 square feet of living space. Siemens Adds 825 Jobs to Charlotte

Governor Beverly Perdue recently announced that Siemens Energy is expanding its operations in southwest Charlotte and adding more than 800 jobs. This announcement bolsters the city’s efforts to become an “energy hub.” Late last year, Siemens broke ground on a 75,000-square-foot, $50 million expansion of its plant on Westinghouse Boulevard, which is the company’s largest manufacturing plant in the United States.
